Produce Assemblies
The Produce Assemblies transaction allows users to produce manufactured items without creating a Job, a Bill of Materials, or accumulating Job costs. The word "assembly" refers to any item or material that will be produced. The transaction covers a wide variety of scenarios including the creation of simple assemblies or components from multiple Raw Materials to the packaging of Finished Goods using a different package type.
The cost of the item produced is calculated from the cost of the item or items consumed and varies depending on the "Inventory Costing" method indicated in System > Options > Inventory tab. If using Actual (FIFO) or Average cost, the cost of produced items will be determined by the Lot costs of the consumed materials. If using Standard cost, the system will evaluate the standard cost of the consumed material and compare this to the standard cost of the item to be produced. Variances will be posted to the "Inventory Adj." account specified in System > Options > Accounts tab.
The Produce Assemblies transaction should only be used for specific scenarios outside of normal production processes. The security setting "Inventory -- Produce Assemblies" controls access to this area.

Produce Assemblies form
The Produce Assemblies form has two main sections:
- Parts to Consume, on the left, The Parts to Consume section lists the Part Number, Lot, Quantity, and Unit of Measure for the materials that will be used/consumed.
- Parts to Produce, on the right. The Parts to Produce section lists the Part Number, Lot, Quantity, and New Location that will be created/produced.
The "Add", "Modify", and "Delete" buttons in both sections are used to manage which parts will be listed and therefore consumed/produced once the form is saved. Concerning the Lot values, users may select specific Lots or allow the system to select the oldest Lot in inventory (for consumption) or pick a sequential Lot number (for production). Note that At-Risk inventory cannot be used when producing assemblies.
